How Engagements Can Look

1-1 AdvisoryFor leaders navigating culturally, politically, or reputation sensitive domains, and who are often juggling too many priorities to see clearly.I work with you to sharpen your thinking on the decisions that make the biggest difference, and ensure what you’re building publicly reflects what you’re actually trying to achieve.Team EmbeddingFor smaller teams where strategy and execution are often the same conversation, I embed for a defined period to help the team orient around what truly moves the needle—whether its building narrative clarity, understanding audiences, diagnosing internal dynamics, or unlocking business value.BespokeHave something in mind that doesn't fit into any of these categories? Why Work With Me

I don't come from the world of communications consulting. I come from having built and operated teams, organisations, and media products. While my work is usually communications focused, experience has taught me that the problems that matter are almost never just communications problems. It's usually a clarity problem, a courage problem, or an organisational tension no one is confronting. With RICE Media, I co-founded Singapore's leading culture publication, growing it from a team of 2 to over 30. I'm especially proud of having built our audience, pushed the boundaries of creative storytelling, led journalists through Singapore's General Elections, and negotiated the balance between commercial necessity and editorial independence. At Open Government Products, I worked on hiring, leadership development, and performance management as the team navigated a period of rapid scaling. At Beansprout, I've been helping the financial platform position itself strategically by translating complex financial ideas into content that earns trust with everyday investors. I interview the CEOs of Singapore-listed companies and build long-form podcast products focused on money mindsets and investor education.Tying all of this together is my work as an accredited coach, partnering with business owners and senior executives.By asking the questions others are afraid to articulate, I help surface what's really driving organisational challenges, and identify where the leverage is.

The Significance of 'Lian'

Lian (莲/炼) carries two meanings in Chinese:
炼 (liàn) — to refine, temper, transform through intensity
莲 (lián) — the lotus that blooms from muddy waters
Both capture how real transformation works: by confronting challenges head on, and deepening our appreciation for the gifts—of clarity, authenticity, and true integrity—that emerge when we embrace the mess.
